Description: Mango trees are evergreen trees with a thick trunk and wide canopy. They can grow to a height of 100 feet or more with a canopy extending to about 35 feet or more, depending upon the climate and richness of the soil. The leaves are leathery, lanceolate, and found in simple-alternate arrangement on the branches.

Uses: Mangoes are used to make murabba (fruit preserves), muramba (a sweet, grated mango delicacy),

amchur (dried and powdered unripe mango), and pickles, including a spicy mustard-oil pickle and alcohol.

Soil Requirement
Mango grows well on wide variety of soils, such as sandy loam and sandy. The loamy, alluvial, well-drained, aerated and deep soils (2-2.5 m) rich in organic matter.
Environment
The mango will tolerate a wide range of climates, from warm temperate to tropical. It fruits best in areas of low rainfall and low relative humidity at flowering, fruit setting and harvest, and with a warm to hot climate during fruit development. The mango is susceptible to cold.
Watering
Mango trees need to be watered throughout the first two years of their life. Each tree needs about 26 gallons of water per week.
